Mark Hanavan
Mark Hanavan is a native Cincinnati artist who resides with his wife, Elizabeth, and their four children in Liberty Township. Mark completed his BFA and MFA in painting from the College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning (DAAP), at The University of Cincinnati. Currently, he is an Associate Professor of Art at The Art Institute of Ohio-Cincinnati. Mark instructs foundation courses such as Color Theory, Perspective Drawing, Foundations of Design and Observational Drawing. For the past four years, Mark has served as the curator for the college gallery. During this time he organized multiple student, faculty and industry professional shows. Mark was the recipient of the 2010 Master Teachers Award from the Ohio Association of Career Colleges.
Mark continues to hone his formal and conceptual skills in his personal work. His most recent series uses narrative still life to make comment on how contemporary society impacts our perceptions of self.
